Dehradun, March 2 -- The four-day Himalayan O2-Tehri Lake Festival will be held from March 6 to March 9, featuring a range of adventure sports, cultural programmes and tourism activities aimed at promoting the district as a major tourist destination, officials said. The festival is being jointly organised by Tehri district administration and the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board and will be inaugurated by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on March 6. According to Tehri district magistrate Nitika Khandelwal, the festival is the district's largest outdoor tourism event and aims to promote adventure tourism while generating local employment opportunities. "The Tehri Lake Festival is the district's biggest outdoor festival. Through activities such as trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing and rafting, we are trying to introduce tourists to the district's tourism potential. Organising treks in remote areas will also help boost rural tourism," Khandelwal said. Officials said several adventure activities including trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing and rafting will be organised across different locations in the district. Events are also planned in remote areas such as Pratapnagar, where the Majaf-Peedi trek will be held on March 7 and the That-Khait mountain trek on March 8. The Basal Tal trek will be organised in the Ghansali area. In the Narendra Nagar block, rafting will be conducted on the Ganges between Brahmapuri and Kharasrot on March 8, while a mountain biking ride will be organised from Suakholi to Devalsari in Dhanaulti region. Participants will also get the opportunity to visit the historic Raghunath Temple in Devprayag, attend the Ganga Aarti at the confluence of the rivers and take part in yoga sessions on the banks of the Sangam....
