NDA hails SC ruling, slams Oppn's misleading posture
PATNA, May 28 -- NDA leaders in Bihar have hailed the Supreme Court's ruling on the SIR exercise, accusing the opposition parties of misleading people and attempting to defame the Election Commission.
State BJP president Sanjay Saraogi said that the ruling vindicated the exercise.
"We welcome the Supreme Court's ruling that has declared the SIR process legally sound and constitutionally valid. The way Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav carried out rallies before the assembly elections in 2025, they were clearly trying to mislead people," Saraogi claimed.
He also targeted the previous TMC government in West Bengal, alleging that former chief minister Mamata Banerjee had opposed the SIR process to protect "Bangladeshi infiltrators".
Saraogi alleged that the opposition parties wanted to contest elections "on the strength of fraudulent voters", but the EC went on with the exercise to ensure fair elections.
BJP's alliance partner, the JD (U), also welcomed the decision.
"I welcome this verdict by the Supreme Court. Given the deliberate attempts made by the Opposition to sow seeds of doubt in the minds of the public, it is evident that they sought to undermine the very institutions of our democracy. Today, the Supreme Court has delivered a verdict. It has demonstrated just how deeply-rooted and robust the foundations of Indian democracy and our Constitution truly are. The Court has affirmed that the SIR process was entirely correct... The Opposition was left with absolutely no substantive issue to raise regarding the SIR... While they were attempting to create confusion regarding all these matters, today's verdict from the Supreme Court serves as a definitive full stop, putting an end to all such controversies," said JD (U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha.
"The Supreme Court has clarified its stance regarding the SIR process and upheld the validity of SIR. Following the Supreme Court's verdict, the Opposition should now cease raising questions regarding SIR. The verdict has silenced the Opposition," said JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan.JD(U) legislature party leader Shrawon Kumar alleged opposition parties tried to defame the EC by "spreading rumours and misinformation". "The verdict is a strong lesson for them," he said....
