Min warns strict action for negligence
PATNA, June 5 -- The Bihar health department has sought a detailed report from the Muzaffarpur district administration on the fire at a private hospital in the district and warned of strict action against those found responsible, health minister Nishant Kumar said in a statement issued by the department on Thursday.
The department has also directed the fire department to conduct safety audits of hospitals across the state to review compliance with fire safety standards.
According to a statement issued by the health department, the state government will provide an ex gratia of Rs.4 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the fire, following directions from the chief minister Samrat Choudhary.
Expressing grief over the incident, the health minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and said that negligence on the part of hospital management would not be tolerated.
He warned that strict legal action would be initiated against those responsible for the fire that broke out at the health facility in Muzaffarpur in the wee hours of Thursday.
