PATNA, Sept. 24 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday attacked the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the media disclosures that there have been big differences among the chief election commissioner (CEC) and two election commissioners (ECs) on the process of conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the exercise of updating the electoral rolls. Bihar was the first state where SIR was rolled out in mid June 2025 and it was completed in September before the state assembly polls which were held in October-November 2025. The similar exercise has been organised in varous other states like West Bengal, Punjab and Delhi. Yadav demanded that in lieu of the revelations, the election of Bihar and West Bengal should be annulled and conducted anew as there were now evidence that the rolls in both the states were manipulated and there was "vote chori" ( vote theft) to defeat the opposition parties in both states. "The revelations have now made it apparent that the assembly polls in Bihar and West Bengal were conducted fraudulently, against the backdrop of this revelations about the conduct of SIR process. We want fresh election for these two states," the leader of the Opposition said....
