PATNA, June 18 -- Amid the ongoing tussle between opposition RJD and the state government over eviction of 10 Circular road residence of Rabri Devi, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday opened another front against NDA government alleging that former CM Nitish Kumar was behind the downgrading of his security and his wife. Talking to reporters outside 10 Circular road residence about the recent developments regarding his downgrading of security, Lalu said it had been done at the behest of former CM. "Yes, it has been withdrawn. Nitish Kumar has got everything done." In early June 2026, the government officially downgraded the Z-plus security cover previously provided to Lalu and Rabri Devi. Under the revised arrangement, the couple's protection now includes limited Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) house guards and a reduced number of personal bodyguards, replacing their previous higher-tier security detailing. The power couple of RJD, however, is entitled for escort during any movement in Patna or in Bihar, as per police. Soon after the security downgrade, Lalu and Rabri sent back their remaining security and now, RJD workers are seen sitting outside the 10 Circular road residence to guard the bungalow for over one week. Lalu himself is seen moving around in Patna in his own car without any security personnel or escort. Earlier on Saturday, Tejashwi Yadav had also decided to return his entire security cover, mirroring similar actions taken by parents Lalu and Rabri. RJD state chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said the state was deliberately targeting Yadav family and attempting to humiliate some of Bihar's most prominent political leaders. "Tejashwi Yadav has returned all his security. Take the security away. No security is needed... whatever security he had, he has announced to return it all. He will walk without security," he said. Incidentally, the fresh salvo by the RJD chief against Nitish Kumar comes just days after the latter reportedly wrote to building construction department to renovate and refurbish the new 39 Hardinge Road bungalow before she vacates the 10 Circular road residence, sources said. The government sent a third eviction notice to Rabri on May 29, which has been allotted to dairy, fisheries and animal resources department minister Nandkishore Ram. Rabri has been allotted an alternative accommodation at Hardinge Road in her capacity as LoP in the Bihar Legislative Council, but has not yet moved....
