Health dept refutes ex- PMCH principal's claims
PATNA, June 27 -- The Bihar health department through a statement on Friday evening rejected claims made by former Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) principal Dr Narendra Pratap Singh during a press conference, asserting that he had not been informed in advance about health minister Nishant's scheduled visit to the institution on June 23.
A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the allegations after a preliminary inquiry had found prima facie evidence of negligence, unauthorised absence and misuse of government resources, said a press release by the health department on Friday.
A statement issued by the department said Dr Singh's claim that he had received no prior information about the minister's visit was incorrect. According to the department, the PMCH superintendent had informed him over a mobile phone on the evening of June 22 about the programme and his role in delivering the vote of thanks, to which he had agreed.
The department also disputed Dr Singh's explanation regarding his absence from duty....
