Patna, Sept. 26 -- Patna Police on Friday registered an FIR against a stenographer of CMO (chief minister office) with the Sachivalaya police station under sections of POCSO Act on the charges of uploading the picture of Jamui victim and her family members on social media. Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said the stenographer identified as Sagar Kumar had been charged with the case of uploading pictures of the Jamui victim on the X handle of CM. The SSP also said the application given by Pataliputra MP Misa Bharti, wherein she had sought action over the revelation of Jamui victim's identity would also be part of the investigation. In her application, Bharti had said that the investigation of the pictures being uploaded on the X handle of CM should be probed and no person should be declared guilty without investigation. RJD's Bharti on Friday made an unsuccessful attempt to lodge an FIR against CM Samrat Choudhary under the POCSO Act for allegedly revealing the identity of the minor survivor. Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav simultaneously demanded that a case under the same law be registered against the CM, accusing him of tearing the statute to shreds. Misa Bharti arrived at the Sachivalaya police station seeking registration of a complaint under Section 23 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. She alleged that Choudhary had disclosed the identity of the Class 10 girl, who was molested in Jamui. The station house officer in-charge refused to register the FIR. In a string of posts later on X, Bharti charged that the law was not being applied equally. "While Bihar Police had booked nearly 150 citizens for uploading videos of the Jamui assault that put pressure on the government, they were now reluctant to act against the chief minister himself," her post in Hindi stated. She tagged Choudhary and the state police, asserting that the CM appeared to believe he stood above the law. The flashpoint was a photograph shared on the CM's X handle on Thursday after his meeting with the survivor's family in Patna. Officials said the family had been assured of 'speedy justice' and the 'strongest possible punishments to all culprits within a month through speedy trial'. The post, which showed the CM with family members, was deleted shortly afterwards. Tejashwi Yadav saved a screen shot, shared it, and labelled Choudhary 'foolish and inept'. He accused the BJP leader of violating the POCSO Act and demanded the strongest possible punishment. The underlying incident occurred on September 19 when the Class 10 girl and a male classmate, both returning from coaching classes near Madwa Pahad on Jamui-Lakhisarai road, were stopped by a group of men. They were surrounded, questioned, assaulted and the girl molested; the ordeal was filmed and later went viral. Police registered an FIR only after the video surfaced....
