DARBHANGA, April 25 -- Tension prevailed in Maksudanpur village under Biraul police station limits in Bihar's Darbhanga district after a motorcycle-related dispute escalated into a violent clash between members of two communities, leaving around a dozen people injured, police said on Thursday. According to officials, the incident took place on the night of April 23 in Maksudanpur village, which falls under the Supaul panchayat area. Three youths from one community were riding a motorcycle when they allegedly came close to hitting a man belonging to the other community. The near-collision reportedly led to an argument between the two sides. During the altercation, the youths allegedly began abusing and hurling insults at the man, further aggravating tensions. The verbal dispute soon turned violent, resulting in a physical clash between members of both groups. Several people, including two children, sustained injuries in the violence. Police said one child suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Other injured persons were also taken to nearby medical facilities. Upon receiving information, Biraul sub-divisional police officer Prabhakar Tiwari and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Shashank Raj rushed to the village along with police personnel and brought the situation under control. In an official statement, Darbhanga Police said cases had been registered from both sides at Biraul police station under Case nos. 239/26 and 240/26. Acting on the complaints, police arrested 12 accused persons, including 10 men and two women. Authorities said the law-and-order situation is currently under control.
