PATNA, May 1 -- Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday laid stress on toning up law and order in the state by emphasising that "good governance model" should be perceptible for the common people while asserting that there would be no compromise on three Cs - crime, corruption and communalism - in the state under the NDA government. He was meeting top bureaucrats and officials, including DMs, SPs and senior police officers at the Adhibhsan Bhawan in Patna. Choudhary, in his first big interaction with the DMs and SPs as well as top bureaucrats after taking over as the chief minister, emphasised the need for making governance more proactive and people-friendly by directing the DMs and SPs to stay in office from 10 am to 1 pm each day to redress people's grievances. "There would be no compromise on the security of children, women and people of the state. The concept of police didis is operational and all efforts should be made that girl students go to their schools and return safely. Police should remain alert and work diligently so that criminals do not get emboldened and commit crime," the chief minister said. Laying stress on attracting big investment in the state, the CM said that the state government has kept a target of attracting Rs.5 lakh crore in investment by 26 November, 2026 and urged the DMs, SPs to take the responsibility of giving proper security to industrialists so that more investors come to the state and expand their businesses. Referring to prohibition in the state, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that there is strict implementation of the liquor ban and there should be a crackdown against those engaged in illegal sale and manufacture of liquor. He also said that there should also be an anti-narcotics drive and also action should be taken against officials in the police and bureaucracy who are found to be patronising those involved in smuggling of liquor and narcotics. "There would be assistance camps in panchayats on every first and third Tuesday of a month where petitions to be submitted by people would be sent to concerned officials. The petitions/ complaints have to be addressed within 30 days and no dilly-dallying attitude would be tolerated," the chief minister said. "We will also be monitoring the functioning of blocks, circles and police stations on a daily basis through real time monitoring and there will be review meetings.
