Bihar cracks down on LPG hoardings in border distts
PATNA, March 20 -- Bihar chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit has directed officials to carry out sustained and intensive raids, particularly in border districts, to eliminate illegal hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders, said a communique issued by his cell on Thursday.
Moving to restore order and public confidence in the gas cylinder distribution system, the state government has rolled out a series of immediate, high-priority measures, including activation of district control rooms, daily press briefings, and intensified enforcement drives against hoarding and black marketing.
Officials said strict legal action would be taken against any individual or entity involved in malpractice at any level.
Amrit instructed all district magistrates and superintendents of police to ensure that district-level control rooms remain fully functional round the clock to facilitate prompt grievance redressal and maintain transparency in distribution.
The directives were issued during a high-level review meeting chaired by the chief secretary, following a detailed presentation by food and consumer protection department secretary Abhay Singh. The presentation outlined the current status of gas cylinder distribution across the state....
