Bihar CEO begins special drive to enrol new & voters left out in SIR
PATNA, Oct. 9 -- The Chief Electoral Office of Bihar has launched a special drive to enrol voters "left out" of the voter rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) last year, and the new electors, officials said on Thursday.
The exercise has to be completed within one month.
Amid the political row over the SIR of electoral rolls, the EC recently told states and Union territories where the exercise has been completed to undertake special drives to enrol eligible electors who were left out." Under the drive, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house verification of such voters and facilitate their enrolment through Form 6 if found eligible. The process has to be completed within a month," said the statement.
The BLOs will also share details of identified eligible voters with representatives of recognised political parties, while Electoral Registration Officers will provide booth-wise lists after completion of the drive.
BLOs have been asked to share their lists of such voters with booth level agents of recognised political parties. After the campaign ends, electoral registration officers will share the final booth-wise lists with those parties, the CEO statement said....
