RANCHI, June 23 -- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the leading partner in the ruling INDIA bloc government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, said on Monday that the Rajya Sabha result established that the JMM president and Rahul Gandhi are the leaders of the 50 legislators who voted for the ruling front in the state. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya underlined that the ruling alliance would review the result in context of the cross voting by a few legislators that ensured the victory of NDA-backed Independent Parimal Nathwani. Replying to a specific question as to how the JMM viewed the result and the bickering among INDIA bloc allies over the loss of Congress candidate, Bhattacharya said, "Hemant Soren and Rahul Gandhi are the leaders of those 50 MLAs who voted for INDIA bloc candidates in the Rajya Sabha polls, while PM Modi, Amit Shah and BJP chief Nitin Nabin are leaders of those 28 MLAs, including ruling alliance legislators, who voted for Nathwani. The rest three whose voted were invalid are in the thoughtless category." Amid cross-voting, NDA-supported Parimal Nathwani won one of the two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand on June 18, defeating Congress's Pranav Jha. JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram was elected to the other seat. The BJP-led NDA has 24 MLAs, four short of the minimum of 28 first-preference votes required in the 81-member assembly to secure a berth in the Rajya Sabha. The INDIA bloc, including the JMM and the Congress, has 56 members in the House. While the JMM candidate secured 30 votes, Congress candidate could muster support of only 20, six short of the INDIA bloc's combined strength. "Win or lose, review is mandatory. A review meeting will take place soon for the Rajya Sabha fallout," Bhattacharya said....
