Viral video of fire tender washing BJP MLA's residence sparks row
Ahmedabad, Oct. 7 -- A purported video showing a fire tender washing the residence of former Gujarat minister and sitting BJP MLA Bachubhai Khabad in Gujarat's Dahod has gone viral, sparking a controversy over the alleged misuse of an emergency vehicle.
The incident took place at Khabad's residence in Pipero village of Dhanpur taluka after a call was made to the Devgadh Baria Municipal Corporation seeking the fire tender's services.
Municipal fire officer Mayur Singh Chauhan said he was instructed by the civic body's chief to send the vehicle to Pipero. "Our staff told us that when the vehicle arrived at the MLA's residence, his associates asked the firemen to wash the house. It was a hoax call," he said. Chauhan then ordered the operation to be stopped. "Our officials will investigate this hoax call," he said.
Municipal chairperson Dharmesh Kalal said he dispatched the vehicle after receiving a call from Khabad. "I assumed there was an emergency and immediately dispatched the vehicle," Kalal said. The operation was stopped after the fire officer was informed about the request to wash the house. "Khabad paid Rs.2,700 towards the expenses," he said.
Dahod City Congress president Rajesh Raval questioned the use of the emergency vehicle, seeking action into the matter. Khabad did not reply to HT's calls or messages....
