UP b'day bash triple murder: Accused killed in encounter
Lucknow, May 1 -- The prime accused in the Bulandshahr triple murder case was killed in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Khurja in the early hours of Thursday, officials said.
The accused, Jeetu Saini (33), who carried a reward of Rs.50,000, was wanted for allegedly shooting dead three men during a birthday party in Khurja on April 25.
According to officials, the encounter took place around 5 am during a vehicle check near Dharau police outpost under Khurja Dehat police station limits. Police said two men on a scooter were signalled to stop but allegedly opened fire and attempted to flee, prompting retaliatory action.
"During vehicle checking, two suspects were asked to stop. They tried to escape and opened fire on the police team, forcing retaliation," said Dinesh Kumar Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Bulandshahr.
"Saini sustained multiple bullet injuries in the exchange of fire, while his accomplice escaped under the cover of darkness. He was taken to a community health centre and later referred to district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A search operation has been launched to trace the absconding suspect," the SSP added. Two police personnel were also injured in the encounter. "Inspector Mohammad Aslam and head constable Mohit Malik sustained injuries and were shifted to a higher medical facility," the officer said....
