Trio defrauds Nerul resident of Rs.2.35 crore with promises of cheaper flat and plot in MIDC area
NAVI MUMBAI, Aug. 12 -- A 56-year-old Nerul resident was allegedly cheated of Rs.2.35 crore by three people who promised to help him purchase a bank-seized flat in Ghansoli at a discounted price along with a plot in the MIDC area. Nerul police registered a case on Monday against the three accused-Vinod Khadu Hujre, Sawan Lalasoo Patil and Sonali Shivaji Patil-under Sections 318(4), 316(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the police, the alleged fraud took place between May 3, 2023 and September 15, 2025. The victim paid the accused a cumulative amount of Rs.2.35 crore. The alleged transactions and meetings took place at several locations in Navi Mumbai, including Nerul, Koparkhairane, Turbhe, Pawane and the MIDC area.
The complainant approached the police after the promised property transactions allegedly failed to materialise despite the payments.
"The case was registered on August 10. Further action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the probe," the investigating officer said....
