Top seed Iniyan lives up to his status, wins title
Mumbai, June 20 -- Tamil Nadu's Iniyan Pa, the top seed, lived up to his billing and dominated proceedings from start to finish to emerge champion in the Masters Category of the 360 ONE Global Chess Festival, which concluded at the World Trade Centre.
Already in sight of the title after the penultimate round, the composed 24-year-old national champion settled for a quick draw against Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy to claim the title in the his debut appearance and the winner's purse of Rs.8 lakh.
The Erode-based GM Iniyan amassed 7.5 points to emerge at the top, remaining unbeaten while conceding only three draws. Boris Savchenko finished second with 6.5 points.
Nithin Babu clinched the Challenger Category and Madhvendra Pratap Sharma won the Junior Master Category.
CCI's Vivaan Waingankar clinched the boys' U-13 crown defeating his teammate Vedant Gupta 21-7, 21-11 in the final of the CCI Yonex Sunrise Mumbai District Badminton Championship 2026 played at CCI.
Later, in the U-15 semi-finals, Vivaan got the better of Raayan Shah 21-13, 16-21, 21-18 and book his place in the final.
