TISS launches research hub to study India's development
Mumbai, Aug. 22 -- The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has set up a five-year policy research centre that will bring academics, policymakers, industry representatives and civil society groups together to examine India's development priorities as part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
The Viksit Bharat Vichar Kendta (VBVK), launched by the institute, will also undertake policy reviews, publish research and create platforms for public discussion on development issues.
It has launched a Viksit Bharat Fellows Programme under which senior professors, experts and young researchers will be brought to TISS for research and mentoring.
TISS vice-chancellor Prof Badri Narayan said the initiative would strengthen the institute's focus on linking academic research with public purpose.
"The Kendra will provide a vibrant platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge co-creation in support of India's developmental aspirations," he said.
The Kendra will also work towards the Viksit Maharashtra 2047 vision and involve TISS campuses in Hyderabad and Guwahati.
It will be supported through institutional funding, research grants, CSR partnerships, philanthropy and commissioned studies....
