Gorakhpur, May 4 -- A 13-year-old boy died after falling from a 50-foot overhead water tank, which he had climbed with his four friends to film a social media reel in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district, officials said on Sunday, adding that two of his friends were seriously injured in the incident and two others were rescued after being airlifted by an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. Additional district magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Gaurav Srivastava said the five teenagers had climbed the overhead tank to film a reel for social media. "The incident occurred around 2.30pm on Saturday when the five teenagers climbed a nearly 50-foot-tall overhead water tank in Kanshi Ram residential colony to shoot a social media reel. While descending, around 6pm, the rusted iron ladder of the dilapidated structure collapsed, causing three of them to fall. The villagers made an SOS call to the local police. The district administration held a meeting with the SDRF (state disaster relief force), which, after assessing the situation, said the structure was weak and they wouldn't be able to carry out the rescue as it would be risky. At this, the district administration sought the help of the Air Force." In a nine-minute rescue operation, an IAF helicopter airlifted the two stranded teenagers from the top of the structure around 5.30am on Sunday. The rescued boys were brought to Gorakhpur and admitted to the Air Force Hospital for treatment. The 13-year-old boy died due to severe head injuries....
