Mumbai, June 24 -- Twelve days after its usual onset date, the southwest monsoon finally arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday, bringing with it relief from the sweltering heat. In the 24 hours ending 8.30 am Tuesday, Colaba logged 49 mm of rain, while Santacruz recorded 12 mm. Tuesday's maximum temperature at Santacruz was 29.4degC, 2.4 degrees below normal, while at Colaba, it was 4.6 degrees below normal at 26.8degCelsius.
