MUMBAI, Oct. 9 -- A 26-year-old physiotherapist was killed after a container truck allegedly veered left and hit her scooter on Ghodbunder Road near the Gaymukh section in Thane around 9pm on Wednesday. The container truck driver, Imran Qayyum Khan, 51, a resident of Bhiwandi, allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot, police said. The woman, identified as Harshita Gowda, was riding with her mother, Nandini, who escaped with minor injuries. According to the police, the truck hit the scooter from the left, causing both women to fall onto the road. Harshita came under the rear wheels of the container truck and sustained fatal injuries. Passersby alerted the police following the accident. A local police beat marshal and other personnel reached the spot and rushed Harshita to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead, police said. The Kasarvadawli police have registered an FIR against Khan under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (causing death by negligence) and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act (driving dangerously)....
