Parkar, Musheer among runs for MCA squad on tour of England
Mumbai, June 30 -- Making the most of the Mumbai Cricket Association's exposure trip to the England, Suved Parkar, Musheer Khan and teenager Aayush Shete have been among the runs for the MCA President's XI team consisting a mixture of emerging and experienced players.
Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who was part of the first half of the tour as Advisor to the MCA, a role which includes to provide guidance for development programs, is impressed with the gains from the matches played in London.
"The players are doing well. Suved scored 160 not out and won the game against Sussex 2nd XI. Ayush, who just crossed 16, also scored 88 in the same match which we won with 10 overs to spare," said Vengsarkar upon his return to Mumbai.
"Musheer was then given the reins. He scored 138 in the win."
Former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar also turned up for one of the games and shared his experience with the Mumbai spinners. "I requested Panesar to speak to the spinners. He told them about bowling in white and red ball cricket," said Vengsarkar.
"We played three 50 overs games and one two-day game in London, against some very good teams, second XI of counties," he added. "I also wanted to have a look at the bowlers who could do well in the coming season. The young Karthik Kumar, Onkar Tarmale and Sylvester D'Souza bowled well."...
