Man kills 11-yr-old twin daughters, surrenders
Kanpur, April 20 -- A 45-year-old medical representative allegedly killed his 11-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats at their residence in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur in the early hours of Sunday and later called the police emergency line to report the crime, a senior police officer said.
According to the officer, when a team from the local police station reached the residence in the Kidwai Nagar area of the city, they found the bodies of the twin sisters in a bedroom, with the accused sitting next to the bodies. He was arrested and a blood-soaked knife allegedly used in the crime was seized, said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), South, Deependra Nath Chaudhary.
"We received a call on 112 at around 4.30 am from the accused himself," the DCP said. "Prima facie, the father appears to be mentally disturbed. Further investigation is underway."
The senior officer said that preliminary findings suggest that the girls, both students of class 5, were attacked while they were fast asleep. The motive remains unclear, the DCP added.
According to the police, the wife of the accused who was sleeping in another room learned about the killings only when the police team arrived at their residence. Footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the house is being examined, police said....
