Islam Gymkhana, Cricket Club of India set up SPG T20 final showdown
Mumbai, April 18 -- Islam Gymkhana and the Cricket Club of India booked their spot in the final of the SPG T20 Tournament after winning their respective quarter-final and semi-finals on Friday.
In the semi-finals, Islam Gymkhana beat Parsee Gymkhana by three wickets while CCI scored a narrow three-run win over Karnataka SA.
Brief scores: (Quarter-finals) MIG CC 190/8 (Sheesh Shetty 81, Arjun Dani 32) lost to CCI 193/5 (Akash Anand 80, Akhil Herwadkar 61; Naman Pushpak 3/32). PJ Hindu Gym 169/4 (Rahul Kodavoor 78*) lost to Islam Gym 171/2 (Sufiyan Shaikh 76*, Pravin Shetty 68). (Semi-finals) Parsee Gym 148/7 (Sagar Chhabria 33*, Sumeir Zaveri 30; Vinayak Bhoir 4/12) lost to Islam Gym 149/7 (Pranay Kapadia 82; Shams Mulani 3/38). CCI 189/7 (Chinmay Sutar 45, Sourabh Singh 40*, Dhrumil Matkar 39; Prathamesh Dake 3/38) beat Karnataka SA 186/8 (Tanush Kotian 84, Anish Choudhary 57; Irfan Umair 4/33).
Maharashtra hockey player Aamod Santosh, 15, is the only player from the state to be called up for the U-18 national coaching camp in Bhopal which starts on April 19.
After the 16th Sub-Junior Nationals that ended earlier this week, 40 players were picked for the camp organised to select the Indian team that will compete in the U-18 Asia Cup in Japan, starting May 29.
