HC declines to halt eviction of two Juhu airport eateries
MUMBAI, May 10 -- The Bombay High Court has refused to interfere with proceedings initiated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to evict two eateries from Juhu Aerodrome.
The two firms, Survee Shidal Pvt Ltd and Survee Foods Pvt Ltd, had moved the high court after the AAI terminated their licences in March 2025 for operating restaurants at Juhu Airport.
The AAI had issued letters of intent to the firms in February and March 2024 to run the eateries for seven years. The petitioners said they had paid security deposits, taken possession of the premises and carried out construction and fit-out work before the licences were terminated because the officer executing the contracts lacked authority to allot the land. They sought a stay on the termination notices and permission to continue operating the restaurants.
The high court had earlier directed both sides to maintain status quo in June 2025.
The AAI opposed the plea, arguing that disputes related to eviction from airport premises are excluded from arbitration under the agreements.
