GT's Krishna happy to keep it short and sweet
Lucknow, April 14 -- Excelling against odds seems the new success mantra for pacer Prasidh Krishna. The tall bowler continued his good run for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League with his season's best spell of 4/28 against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday.
Krishna's express pace and sharp bounce turned the tide, propelling GT to a convincing victory, reminding everyone why the 30-year-old remains in the India set-up.
The surface at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium offered little to the other seamers but the Krishna consistently clocked 145 kph. LSG were restricted to 164/8 and the Titans won the match by seven wickets with eight balls to spare.
Most quicks compromise with speed in their bid to pitch it up, especially the new ball, but Krishna prefers to bang it in shorter. His average bounce in IPL 2026 (measured by ball-tracking) tops the charts at 0.85m. However, this tactic has given Krishna mixed returns across formats.
"I just kept pushing the ball hard on the surface and try to keep my deliveries away from the batters' hitting arc. Indian soil (lower bounce) doesn't scare me and I bowl to extract (wickets), not just contain," he said after the match.
Krishna was forced to re-set three seasons ago following a stress fracture. He got fitter and refined his release point, which helped improve his pace as well.
"Every bowler has his bowling style and this shorter length deliveries suits my game plan. Some others focus on yorkers and some on slower ones, and I have my own style," he said...
