Dipke detained briefly after being spotted with placards
Mumbai, Oct. 2 -- CJP chief Abhijeet Dipke was briefly detained by Marine Drive police after officers asked him to accompany them to the police station for tea. Police, however, said he was allowed to leave shortly afterwards.
According to a video that went viral and the Marine Drive police, Dipke was at Marine Drive promoting his October 2 protest at Shivaji Park. He was carrying placards and was accompanied by several supporters when police officers asked him to come to the police station. At the station, an officer questioned Dipke before allowing him to leave. Police said the interaction was informal and that the officer had invited him for tea. A video of Dipke's brief "detention" went viral on social media.
According to the police, the organisers have been promoting a 'Jail Bharo Andolan' and appealing to youngsters to join the protest on October 2. Several WhatsApp groups have reportedly been created and social media platforms are being used to mobilise participants. htc...
