CISF rescues nine from sinking boat
MUMBAI, May 30 -- A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) marine patrolling team on Friday rescued all nine crew members of a tug boat that began taking in water near the Colaba Lighthouse.
According to CISF officials, the main control room of the Mumbai Port Authority (MPA) unit received an alert from the Vessel Traffic Management System at around 4.10pm regarding water ingress into tug boat 'KPS Shivali'. Officials said the vessel had developed a hole at its bottom while sailing near the Colaba Lighthouse.
Following the distress call, the information was immediately relayed to the CISF boat patrolling team, which rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
The team reached the location within 40 minutes and safely evacuated all nine crew members along with their belongings before bringing them ashore at the Gateway of India.
No injuries were reported in the incident....
