BMC clears 40 unauthorised structures in south Mumbai
India, May 15 -- Mumbai: In an anti-encroachment operation on Thursday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) E Ward cleared around 40 illegal structures in south Mumbai's Ward 212, including unauthorised hawkers, garages and scrap dealers. The drive was conducted at Water Street Corner, Tank Pakhadi Road and Hafiz Ali Bahadur Khan Marg to ease congestion and improve pedestrian movement, officials said.
According to civic officials, the encroachments had been obstructing footpaths and causing inconvenience to commuters in the area. During the drive, BMC teams demolished illegal benches, stalls and sheds and removed unauthorised roadside vendors. BMC officials said anti-encroachment action would continue regularly in the ward against illegal structures and unauthorised hawking activities....
