60-year-old held for killing veggie vendor
MUMBAI, Oct. 9 -- The Versova police on Thursday arrested a 60-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly killing a 38-year-old vegetable vendor from Malad and dumping his body in the sea.
The body of the vegetable vendor, Basant Lal Raidas, was found in a decomposed state inside a gunny bag at Versova beach on October 1, with his hands and legs tied. The police booked the 60-year-old man and his minor son after the post mortem revealed the vendor had been murdered.
According to the police, Raidas, the accused and his minor son worked at the same vegetable shop near Liberty Garden in Malad West. Raidas had assaulted the minor some time ago, due to which the accused harboured a grudge against him.
In the last week of September, the accused and his son allegedly assaulted Raidas on his head. After he died, they tied his legs and hands and dumped his body in the sea, police said....
