MUMBAI, July 14 -- The state government's first special Class 11 admission round for girls, introduced this year to encourage higher education among female students, has received an overwhelming response, with 53,824 candidates securing seats. A total of 71,706 girls applied in the special round, of whom 53,824 were allotted seats. Officials said 25,131 students confirmed their admissions on the first day itself, reflecting the success of the initiative. The special round, conducted as part of the online Class 11 admission process, gave girls another opportunity to secure seats in the Science, Commerce and Arts streams. Mumbai recorded the highest number of allotments, with 18,209 girls securing seats, of whom 8,640 confirmed their admissions. Pune followed with 8,888 allotments and 4,045 admissions confirmed. Nagpur followed closely having recorded 4,974 allotments, with 2,793 students completing the admission process. According to the Directorate of Education, students allotted seats in the special round can confirm their admissions until 6pm on July 14.
