youth stabbed to death in Kushinagar; police probe old enmity
GORAKHPUR, Sept. 20 -- A 22-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death and his friend critically injured after four men travelling on two motorcycles attacked them near Babhnauli in Kushinagar district on Friday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Rohit Kharwar, a resident of Dhuriya Hata village under the Sevarahi police station. His friend, Neeraj Patel, 21, a resident of Sapahi Tadwa, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a medical college for treatment.
According to police, Rohit and Neeraj had gone to Babhnauli market on Friday evening. After completing their shopping, they were heading towards a petrol pump in the Turkpatti area when the attackers intercepted their motorcycle near a private school.
The assailants allegedly attacked the two with knives. On hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the spot, following which the attackers fled.
ASP Siddharth Verma said the preliminary investigation suggested that the attack was linked to an old rivalry. He said a case would be registered on the basis of the complaint and further legal action would follow.
"Five police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused," Verma said....
