Youth killed while filming group clash in Kaushambi
PRAYAGRAJ, April 3 -- A violent clash between two rival groups occurred on Thursday in Bariyawan village under Charwa police station limits in Kaushambi, killing 23-year-old Puneet Kumar who was filming the incident on his mobile phone. The confrontation, rooted in a long-standing rivalry, left several people injured and triggered heavy police deployment in the village.
According to police sources, tensions had been simmering between Ramjeevan and Bhaiyyan, residents of Bariyawan, due to an old enmity. Four days ago, a dispute broke out between Bhaiyyan's son, Yash Kumar, and Ramjeevan's sons, during which Ramjeevan was allegedly beaten by members of the rival group. Nursing a grudge over the incident, Ramjeevan and his supporters allegedly stormed Bhaiyyan's house around noon on Thursday. Armed with sticks and clubs, the group reportedly began assaulting members of Bhaiyyan's family. As the attack intensified, people from both sides became involved, leading to clash. Amid the chaos, a local youth, Puneet Kumar (23), began recording the incident on his mobile phone. He was reportedly targeted during the violence and attacked repeatedly with an axe, leaving him critically injured.
Puneet, along with Ramjeevan and other injured individuals, was rushed to the medical college. However, Puneet succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital. Several members of Bhaiyyan's faction also sustained injuries in the incident.
