Young woman falls from 3-storey building, case registered
Prayagraj, June 4 -- A case involving an 18-year-old woman who fell from a three-storey building in a government residential colony under the Manjhanpur Kotwali area in Pratapgarh has taken a dramatic turn, with the victim's father accusing her alleged lover of pushing her off the roof. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
The incident occurred on the morning of May 23, when the young woman sustained severe injuries. Police sources said the woman had eloped on May 21 with a youth identified as Golu. Family members managed to bring her back home after reportedly assuring her that her marriage with the youth would be arranged, but officials said the family later did not honour the promise, which left the young woman distressed.
While the police initially treated the incident as a case of attempted suicide, the matter took a new turn on Tuesday when the victim's father filed a formal complaint alleging Golu had thrown his daughter off the roof. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under attempt to murder charges. DSP (Manjhanpur) Shivank Singh said that prima facie, earlier investigation suggested the girl had jumped on her own, but a case has now been registered on the basis of the father's complaint, and all aspects are being thoroughly investigated....
