Yogi takes 'tap' jibe at Akhilesh, SP chief hits back
LUCKNOW, June 6 -- Taking a swipe without naming Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said while the present government was working to get drinking water for each house in the state, someone was stealing taps.
"Hum dekhte hain humne har ghar jal ki yojna ko age badhaya, pata laga koi toti chori kar raha hai. (We took forward the Har Ghar Jal scheme, and hear someone is stealing taps)," the chief minister Yogi Adityanath said, while addressing the World Environment Day event organised by the forest department.
"Make water conservation a part of life. Some people waste water by leaving the tap open. People should check each other and stop wasting water. Also, stop the use of single-use plastic," he said.
In an apparent riposte to the 'tap' jibe, Yadav, without naming the CM, wrote on social media, "...Some people blame others for their own failures; this is the voice of despair born of defeat."...
