Woman's body found hanging, maternal family alleges murder
PRAYAGRAJ, April 20 -- A 35-year-old woman was found hanging inside her house in Kashipur Dhamawa village under Baghrai police station area of Pratapgarh on Sunday morning, triggering allegations of murder from her maternal family. Police sent the body for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
The woman was found hanging from a noose made from a saree tied to a ceiling fan. At the time of the incident, her three daughters were sleeping inside the house, while her husband was sleeping outside. Around 7 am, her husband woke up, went inside the house, and found her hanging. He raised an alarm, after which neighbours rushed in and helped bring her down, but she had already died.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the deceased's maternal family members arrived at the spot, leading to an argument between the two parties. The deceased's maternal uncle alleged that she was strangled to death and later hanged to make it appear as a case of suicide. Following these allegations, the police proceeded with the post-mortem.
SHO Shravan Kumar said no written complaint has been received from either side so far. He added that further legal action will be decided based on the post-mortem report.
An 11-year-old boy drowned after slipping into a pond while grazing goats on the outskirts of his Sarua Jamethi village under the Kunda Kotwali police station area on Sunday. Police sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased, Yuvraj Saroj, had left home in the morning to graze goats near a pond located outside the village. While herding the animals, the goats entered the pond to drink water. In an attempt to bring them back, Yuvraj lost his balance, slipped, and fell into the pond, drowning in the process.
It is learned that the search for the boy began after a considerable delay. After some time, his body was spotted floating in the pond, causing panic among villagers. Local residents immediately pulled him out of the water and rushed him to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Sub-inspector Govind Singh Chauhan said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
Two elderly grain merchants riding a motorcycle were killed on Sunday morning after a speeding car hit them near Maida crossing on the Prayagraj-Rewa Highway. The driver abandoned the car at the spot and fled. Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and launched a search operation. The deceased were identified as Sehat Bahadur Kesharwani, 70, and Bihari Lal Agrahari, 65, residents of Jari Bazar under Kaudhiyara police station area in Prayagraj. The two had been partners in the grain trade for nearly forty years, purchasing grain from surrounding villages and selling it in local markets.
According to information, the two men left home around 9 am on Sunday on their motorcycle to buy grain, as per their daily routine. When they reached near Maida crossing, a speeding car rammed into their bike.
The car driver reportedly drove a short distance ahead, abandoned the vehicle, and fled. Police reached the spot and rushed them to hospital, where doctors declared them dead....
