Jaipur, Sept. 3 -- A 42-year-old woman labourer was mauled to death by a tiger after it was allegedly released into an enclosure where a group of women were cutting grass at Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur on Wednesday morning, officials said. According to officials, the deceased was identified as Sugna Devi, a resident of Nangal Susawatan village in Jamwaramgarh. The incident occurred around 10am when the tiger, named Shivaji, was released for public display. Sugna's sister Kamala, who was among the women working inside the enclosure, alleged that the tiger was in a holding cage when they entered the area. "As soon as we entered, someone opened the cage gate and the tiger came out and attacked us," Kamala told the media. She said four women managed to run out of the enclosure, while another climbed a tree. Sugna attempted to escape by climbing the enclosure's mesh fence, but the tiger allegedly pulled her down and killed her. Her body remained inside the enclosure for several hours following the attack. District forest officer Ashish Kumar said the tiger had been released by an employee at the scheduled display time. "It was time for the tiger's display, and the employee concerned released it. An investigation is underway to determine whether there was negligence," he said. htc...
