Jhansi, Aug. 25 -- A 44-year-old woman was killed and her husband sustained injuries after a wall of their dilapidated old house collapsed amid continuous rain on Monday morning. The incident took place in Bisati Bazaar, under the Kotwali police station area. The deceased was identified as Saroj Hayaran, 44, while her husband, Mukesh, 48, sustained injuries. The incident took place in the morning when the couple was inside the house. The rear wall suddenly collapsed while they were sitting near it, trapping them under the rubble. The wall was reportedly very old and made of thin bricks dating back to the British era. Neighbours and local residents rushed to the spot to rescue the couple and informed the police. The couple was pulled out from the rubble and taken to hospital, where Saroj was declared dead. Mukesh, who sustained injuries in the collapse, is undergoing treatment.
