Woman held hostage, jewellery worth Rs.80 lakh looted
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 4 -- Three masked men allegedly held a woman hostage and looted jewellery and cash worth around Rs.80 lakh from the palace of the late Raja Amar Pratap Singh at Amargarh under the Aaspur Devsara police station area of Pratapgarh district on Sunday evening.
According to police, Chanda Singh alias Baby ,55, a relative of late Raja Amar Pratap Singh, lives alone in the historic palace at Amargarh Kot.
At around 8 pm, while she was sitting in the courtyard, three masked men allegedly entered the palace through the rear side and forced her inside.
Police said the accused tied and gagged Chanda Singh, held her hostage and looted cash and jewellery worth about Rs.80 lakh from the palace before fleeing. After freeing herself, she alerted police. Amargarh Outpost In-charge and Aaspur Devsara SHO Rakesh Chaurasia began an investigation.
The SP ordered speedy arrests. Aaspur Devsara SHO Rakesh Chaurasia said some suspects have been detained for questioning and CCTV footage from the palace and surrounding areas is being examined. htc...
