Kanpur, June 7 -- A woman from Jhansi was gang-raped at gunpoint in front of her nine-year-old daughter in Banda district when she was on her way to the Kalinjar fort.The woman, a resident of the Sipri area in Jhansi, told Palash Bansal, the Banda superintendent of police, in a written complaint on Saturday that she arrived in Banda on June 4 to visit the historic fort. While waiting for transport at Baboolal intersection, she met a man who identified himself as Bhagwandeen and he offered to take her to the fort for a Rs 500 fare, according to the complaint. Instead, the woman said Bhagwandeen stopped the vehicle before Naraini, near a canal where a smaller vehicle was already waiting with a driver and another man. She and her daughter sat in the middle seat. When the vehicle turned onto an unpaved road, the woman questioned the route. At that point, a man seated in the front pulled out a pistol, pressed it against the daughter's head, and demanded the woman hand over all her jewellery, her phone, and the Rs 10,000-12,000 she was carrying. "They said they would shoot my daughter if I did not comply," the woman stated in her complaint.The accused then took her to a small room in front of a water tank along the canal embankment. Inside, two men began drinking alcohol. The woman said she pleaded with them to let her go, but they threatened her with the pistol. Her daughter fell unconscious after being forced to drink alcohol, the woman said in the complaint. At this point, the woman alleged, a third man arrived. She said this man approached her daughter and molested the child. "I joined my hands and begged them to leave my daughter alone. Do whatever you want to me, but leave her," her complaint reads. The woman said all three men took turns raping her. A fourth man arrived at the tubewell shortly after and also raped her. The accused then dropped her on the main road, threatening to kill both her and her daughter if she reported the incident.
