Meerut, Aug. 27 -- A 42-year-old woman was allegedly murdered with a sharp-edged weapon at her house in Mirzapur Said, also known as Naya Gaon, in Bijnor district's Najibabad area. Her semi-naked body was found inside the locked premises on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Shehnaz Khatoon, was discovered by her son Asif, who broke open the locks of the house after failing to contact his parents. Police suspect that the woman was killed on the night of August 20. Her husband, Ahmad Hasan, whose mobile phone has remained switched off since that night, is currently suspected in connection with the murder. Asif, a resident of Mohanpur village who works at a salon in Srinagar, told police that his parents had been staying with him in Srinagar for nearly two years. They frequently quarrelled. The couple returned to their house in Saidpur Mirza village on August 18. According to Asif, he spoke to his mother on his father's phone at around 9 pm on August 20. After that, Ahmad Hasan's phone was switched off. As he was unable to contact his mother, Asif travelled to the village and reached the house on Tuesday. When he found the main door locked, he broke open the lock and entered. A strong foul smell was coming from inside the house. He then broke the lock of a room and found his mother's body lying on the floor. Police sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Officers said the examination revealed severe injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon. A deep wound was found near the woman's ear, with the injury extending up to the brain. Another deep sharp-weapon injury was found on the front portion of her head. Circle officer Rajesh Solanki said the woman had died under suspicious circumstances and that her son had expressed suspicion against his father. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and the whereabouts of Ahmad Hasan. Police said a possible domestic dispute arising from Ahmad Hasan's suspicion about his wife's alleged extramarital relationship is emerging as a key angle in the investigation. Police are also examining whether the murder was premeditated, as the couple had specifically gone to the relatively incomplete Saidpur house despite having access to a fully equipped home in Mohanpur....
