LUCKNOW, July 23 -- A 37-year-old woman was crushed to death after she allegedly got trapped between two Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses that started moving simultaneously at the Hardoi bus stand on Wednesday afternoon, with her family accusing the drivers of negligence. The deceased, Neha Singh, a resident of Khetui village in Kotwali Dehat area, worked for a private company and was travelling to Bangarmau in Unnao district to attend an official meeting. According to eyewitnesses, Neha had been waiting at the bus stand when a bus bound for Unnao arrived. As she attempted to board it, she tried to pass through the narrow gap between two stationary buses belonging to the Kannauj and Hardoi depots. At that moment, both buses allegedly started moving simultaneously, trapping her between their front portions. The accident occurred around 1:30 pm at the Roadways bus station under the City Kotwali police station limits, police said. Commuters rushed towards the buses after hearing her cries for help and forced the drivers to stop, but she had suffered fatal injuries. She was taken to the Government Medical College, where doctors declared her dead. Police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. Neha's brother-in-law, Viresh Singh, alleged that the drivers moved their buses without ensuring that no one was standing in front of or between the vehicles. According to relatives, Neha had been supporting her family since her husband, Sarvesh Singh, was killed in a road accident nearly a decade ago after being crushed between a truck and a DCM vehicle.
