Woman carries 90-year-old kin on sacred trek
Agra, June 5 -- Amid the many sights associated with the ongoing Chaurasi Kos Parikrama in the Braj region, a daughter-in-law carrying her 90-year-old mother-in-law in a basket on her head has become the talk of the town. The woman is Haryanvi singer Kajal Chaudhary, who is undertaking the pilgrimage route to fulfil the wish of her mother-in-law, Chandri Devi, who is unable to walk. The two are from Hatana village in Haryana. Lakhs of devotees are participating in the Chaurasi Kos Parikrama (260-km) , which passes through parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana, with Mathura at its centre. While most pilgrims prefer walking at night to avoid the heat, Kajal's devotion has drawn attention during the day.
"My mother-in-law wished to complete the parikrama. Fulfilling the wish of an elder who has given me so much love is my duty," Kajal said.
The challenging route, linked to the life of Lord Krishna, is especially popular during the ongoing Adhik Maas, with many devotees completing it over 40 days....
