Wild elephant found dead in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve
Lakhimpur Kheri, April 13 -- A wild elephant was found dead in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve on Sunday. The nature of the injuries indicated that the male elephant had a fierce fight with another wild tusker and sustained fatal injuries, leading to its death, he added.
Dr Rajamohan said the elephant was part of a larger herd of around 29 animals that had been roaming inside the reserve for the past several days.
He added that around 48 hours before its death, the herd was seen near the Sarauta beat close to Nakaua Nala in the Dudhwa Range.
On Saturday, the same herd was sighted near Amla Tal in South Sonaripur. He said the elephant appeared healthy in the herd, making its sudden death due to abdominal injuries unfortunate.
