Dehradun, Oct. 5 -- A 30-year-old woman and her 23-year-old lover were arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering her 38-year-old husband after he learnt of their affair in Dehradun district, police said. The accused, identified as Lallan Sharma, 23, from Saharsa in Bihar who lives in Premnagar area in the district, was arrested along with the wife of the deceased man, Meena Devi, 30, also from Saharsa, police said. According to police, the body of Madan Mukhiya, 38, a resident of Saharsa, was recovered from a forested area near Dolphin PG College in Manduwala, Premnagar, on Saturday. The body bore injuries to the neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon, police said, adding that a knife allegedly used in the crime was also recovered. The body was sent for postmortem examination. An FIR was registered at Premnagar police station on the complaint of the deceased's landlord, Surendra Singh, under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Premnagar police station. SSP Pramendra Dobhal said multiple teams were formed to investigate the case. "The teams scanned CCTV footage from near the crime spot, questioned labourers living nearby and activated our informer network. We arrested the accused near Bala Sundari Temple. During questioning, he confessed to the crime and disclosed the involvement of the deceased's wife. Meena Devi was subsequently arrested," he said. "On their identification, we recovered the knife used in the crime," Dobhal added. According to the SSP, Sharma works at a tailor shop in Manduwala and lives in rented accommodation in the area. He had allegedly been having an affair with Mukhiya's wife for the past three years. "During a check of Sharma's phone, Mukhiya found photographs of his wife. Sharma told police that Mukhiya threatened to kill him and his wife and said he would disclose their relationship to everyone," Dobhal said. According to the police, Sharma and Meena then allegedly planned to kill Mukhiya. "As part of the plan, Meena took Mukhiya to the forested area near Dolphin College on Saturday evening on the pretext of having liquor there. After making him intoxicated, she and Sharma allegedly stabbed his neck with a knife and killed him," Dobhal said.
