PRAYAGRAJ, July 10 -- Following the suicide of a 30-year-old truck operator in the Ghoorpur area of Prayagraj, police have registered a case against his wife, sister-in-law, and maternal uncle and aunt for allegedly abetting the suicide. The incident occurred on July 7, involving a resident of the Iradatganj Bazaar area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ghoorpur police station. Before taking his own life, the man recorded and circulated a video on social media alleging that his wife and her relatives repeatedly harassed him. In the video, he claimed the constant harassment left him with no desire to live and that he had exhausted his capacity to endure the situation. According to the police, shortly after the video went viral, the man allegedly hanged himself using a towel tied to an iron rod protruding from a neighbouring house. Police recovered the body and sent it for a postmortem examination. Following the last rites, the man's mother submitted a complaint to the Ghoorpur police, accusing the four individuals of mentally harassing her son and driving him to suicide. Based on this complaint, the police registered a case on Thursday against the accused under provisions related to the abetment of suicide.
