Meerut, May 26 -- A 30-year-old man was allegedly tortured and killed by his wife, her sister, and their respective lovers in a conspiracy driven by the illicit affair and a property dispute, in Moradabad district, police said on Monday. The victim, identified as Pawan Kumar Thakur, was allegedly electrocuted, poisoned, and later pushed down a staircase in an attempt to portray the murder as an accident or suicide. Police have arrested all four accused and sent them to judicial custody. According to police, the accused include Pawan's wife, Aanchal, her sister, Shikha, Aanchal's alleged lover Ankit Singh, and Shikha's alleged lover Ajay Diwakar. Investigators said the murder was meticulously planned nearly a week in advance. The incident took place on Saturday night in Kundanpur under the Majhola police station area of Moradabad. Police said Pawan returned home around 6 pm, where he was allegedly held captive inside the house by the accused. He was beaten with sticks, given electric shocks, and later forced to consume poison. After he lost consciousness, the accused allegedly pushed him down the staircase to make the death appear accidental. They also informed relatives that Pawan had consumed something poisonous and possibly died by suicide. The murder plot was exposed after the post-mortem examination report confirmed signs of electrocution along with poisoning. Doctors reportedly found multiple burn marks on the victim's body consistent with electric shocks. ASP Abhinav Dwivedi said Pawan's elder brother, Devendra Singh, lodged a murder complaint late on Saturday night.
