West UP gets soaked with excess rain while East UP goes dry
Lucknow, June 21 -- The rain deficit in Uttar Pradesh has gone up to 41% but a number of West UP districts near Delhi received excess rainfall due to recent Western Disturbance.
For instance, Sambhal recorded 170% surplus rain as the district received 82.2 mm rain against normal 30.4 mm. Taj city Agra experienced 158% surplus rainfall as the district received 49.4 mm rainfall against normal 19.1 mm. Etah got 155% excess rainfall with the district receiving 46.7 mm rainfall against a normal of 18.3 mm. Hathras recorded 102% rainfall with the district receiving 44.3 mm rainfall against a normal of 22 mm. Firozabad got 96% rain as the district received 48.7 mm rain against a normal of 24.9 mm.
In contrast, most East Uttar Pradesh districts witnessed a massive deficit.
For instance, state capital Lucknow has a rain deficit of 63% with the district receiving 13.5 mm rainfall against normal 36.8 mm.
In other East UP districts, Kaushambi saw a 100% rain deficit as the district did not receive a drop of rain against the normal average of 27.4 mm. In Kushinagar, the rain deficit is 98% with the district receiving 1.5 mm rain against normal 61.6 mm rainfall. Bhadohi saw 1 mm rain against normal 32.6 mm rain, a deficit of 97%.
Overall, UP received 24.9 mm rainfall against normal 42.3 mm.
The East UP rain deficit was pegged at 58% with the region experiencing 19.6 mm rainfall against a normal of 46.7 mm, while in West UP, the rain deficit is only 10% with the region getting 32.4 mm rainfall against normal 36.1 mm....
