Wellness City project to get Green Corridor link
LUCKNOW, May 16 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has intensified work on its ambitious Wellness City project by deciding to link four major internal roads with the Green Corridor. The move is expected to improve connectivity between Shaheed Path, Kisan Path and Sultanpur Road while opening up a major healthcare and residential hub on the city's outskirts.
Highlighting the project's growing scale, LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar inspected the Green Corridor and Wellness City site on Friday. He directed officials to complete earth-filling work before the monsoon to avoid delays in construction activities.
Officials said the fourth phase of the Green Corridor project is crucial for the proposed Wellness City, which the authority plans to develop as a dedicated "Medi City" featuring super-speciality hospitals, medical colleges, diagnostic centres, wellness institutes, Vipassana centres and meditation facilities. The project is being developed over 485 hectares between Sultanpur Road and Kisan Path across villages, including Bakkas, Malookpur Dhakwa, Chaurahiya, Chaurasi, Dularmau, Noorpur Behta and Mastemau.
The development authority is banking on improved road infrastructure to attract large-scale healthcare and institutional investment in the area. According to officials, the Wellness City will have a network of roads ranging from 24 metres to 60 metres in width, ensuring seamless traffic movement inside the township. Four key routes of the project will directly connect with the 6.5-km-long and 24-metre-wide Green Corridor between Shaheed Path and Kisan Path.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said, "Land acquisition for the project is progressing through land pooling, acquisition and mutual consent from farmers. So far, 427 farmers have submitted proposals for around 78 hectares of land, while agreements for 30 hectares have already been finalised under the land pooling model. The authority will soon allot developed plots to participating farmers through lottery system."
In another major connectivity push, construction of a 1.8 kilometre-long four-lane road between army land and Mari Mata Mandir has also begun to connect Sultanpur Road with the Green Corridor.
Officials said the new road will ease movement between Gomti Nagar Extension and Arjunganj and directly benefit nearly 10 lakh residents by reducing travel time and traffic congestion in the southern parts of Lucknow....
