WB obstructing my work: MP; SC seeks state reply
New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday sought responses from the West Bengal government and the Centre on a petition by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra alleging that the state administration was obstructing her functioning as an elected representative in her Krishnanagar constituency.
A bench of justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana expressed concern over a September 1 letter issued by the Nadia district administration requiring MPs to give three days' advance notice before visiting the area and accessing the Circuit House.
"We share our concern over this letter that you have issued on September 1. A MP coming to Circuit House is being told to inform you three days before coming," the bench said.
