Voter roll mapping drive to start from Apr 1
Dehradun, March 28 -- The office of the chief electoral officer in Uttarakhand will launch an intensive voter roll mapping campaign across the state from April 1 as part of preparations for the upcoming special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference in Dehradun on Friday, additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said the state has already achieved over 85% mapping during the pre-SIR phase.
Jogdande said the remaining work will be completed through an intensified door-to-door campaign beginning next month from April 1, with special focus on polling booths where mapping coverage remains low.
The exercise is being conducted under the guidance of chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam.

Jogdande also announced a new facility introduced by the Election Commission that allows voters to schedule a phone call with their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) with a single click.
"Voters can book a call with their BLO by visiting the Election Commission website or by downloading the ECI-NET mobile application. Once a call is booked, the concerned BLO will contact the voter within two days," he said.
He also urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for all polling booths to assist in the revision process.
He said against a total of 11,733 polling booths in the state, political parties have so far appointed 19,116 BLAs. Of these, 9,276 have been appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, 9,506 by the Indian National Congress, 217 by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and 117 by the Bahujan Samaj Party, Jogdande added....
